Supply Chain Services

Your Bridge to Origin: From farm-gate to roastery door—everything you need to know about bringing your favorite coffees home.

Can Algrano help me import coffee from a producer I know?

Your ability to import depends on the volume and the local infrastructure (Consolidators). Use the table below to check feasibility:

Algrano's Origin Infrastructure Required Volume Roaster Logistics Producer Needs
Consolidator Available < 6 Tonnes Consolidated: Follows fixed Shipping Calendar. No Export License Needed
Consolidator Available > 6 Tonnes Dedicated: Flexible timing; on-demand. No Export License Needed
No Consolidator > 6 Tonnes Dedicated: Requires volume for cost-efficiency. Export License Required
No Consolidator < 6 Tonnes ⚠️ Not currently viable for cost-efficient shipping. N/A

Next Step: Please provide the Origin Country and Volume to your Algrano contact to proceed.

What services does Algrano offer?

We provide a comprehensive supply chain management to move your coffee globally:

  • Preparation Services: If the producer requires milling or other preparation services, our consolidator at origin might be able to offer these. Please reach out to your Algrano team with your specific needs so we can check availability.

  • Full Logistics: Export documentation, import clearance, international shipping, and consolidation.

  • Financing: Tailored financing options for roasters (see below), with possibility to pay in another currency.

  • Warehousing & Transport: "Pay-as-you-go" storage and final mile road delivery.

What info is needed for a quote?

To receive an estimated quote, please share:

  1. Coffee Name

  2. FOB Price (Price agreed with the producer)

  3. Origin & Destination

  4. Total Volume

Note: Initial quotes are estimates. Final export costs (local handling/docs) are finalized between the producer and consolidator.

What is included in the price?

We typically quote a FCA price to the destination warehouse, which includes:

  • FOB Price (Farm-gate + Export fees)

  • Logistics (Import & Shipping)

  • Algrano Service Fee

  • Financing Fee (If opted for)

On top of this FCA price will be the road transport, either organized by Algrano or the roaster, and the warehousing fees.

Bonus Perks:

  • First 30 days of warehousing are FREE.

  • First 5 days of financing during warehousing are FREE.

  • The first release from the warehouse is FREE.

To have an estimate of the warehousing price, please provide your release pattern to your contact at Algrano.

What are the steps at origin ?

If the producer lacks an export license and their coffee requires consolidation (under 6 tonnes in a supported origin):

  1. Connection: Algrano connects the producer directly with our consolidator at origin.
  2. Local Agreement: The producer and consolidator discuss exporting costs, finalize local contracts, and confirm delivery deadlines to the port.

Shipment: Algrano supports the consolidator in organizing the international shipment and takes over the contract responsibility from the point of export.

How does financing work?

  • For Roasters: Pay only at each warehouse release to helps manage inventory and cash flow.

  • Payment Security and Pre-financing for Producers

    • Origin Payment: Algrano provides payment security by paying the consolidator/exporter Cash Against Document when the coffee leaves the port of origin. The consolidator then pays the producer.
    • Producer Pre-financing: From the second year of successful engagement, the producer can apply for prepayment Grower Capital.
    • Maximum: Up to 70% of the F.O.B. price.
    • Timing: Up to 6 months before shipping.
Conditions: Requires a signed contract with a roaster, no previous contract breaches, a low dispute rate, and a history of on-time delivery.

How do we sign the contract for the coffee shipment?

The contract is finalized digitally using the Algrano platform:

  1. Account Creation: Both the producer and the roaster must create an account on Algrano.
  2. Offer Preparation: Our Sourcing team supports the producer in creating the official offer on the platform and sending a private offer directly to the roaster.
  3. Review and Signature: Our Onboarding team assists the roaster in checking and electronically signing the offer on the platform.
  4. Shipment Initiation: Once the contract is signed, Algrano shares the contract details with the consolidator to begin organizing the shipment logistics.
