Our CO2 emissions calculations cover several key stages in the coffee supply chain. Here’s what we take into account:
-
- Coffee production
- Road transport from farm to port of origin
- Ocean freight from port of origin to port of destination
- Warehousing storage
- Road transport from warehouse to roastery
These figures are based on estimates to give you a clear picture of the carbon footprint involved.
As we don’t know for how long you will actually store the coffee in the warehouse, we assume an average warehousing period of 6 months. Even if the actual storage period deviates from this assumption, the overall estimate is only marginally affected, as not that many emissions accrue during warehouse storage.
