What parts of the coffee journey does Algrano include when calculating CO2 emissions?

Our CO2 emissions calculations cover several key stages in the coffee supply chain. Here’s what we take into account:

    1. Coffee production
    2. Road transport from farm to port of origin
    3. Ocean freight from port of origin to port of destination
    4. Warehousing storage
    5. Road transport from warehouse to roastery

These figures are based on estimates to give you a clear picture of the carbon footprint involved.

If your coffee is delivered directly to your doorstep (DDP), it skips the warehouse stage, so storage isn’t included in the emissions calculation. If you’re buying FOB (meaning you handle transport from the port of origin yourself), ocean freight to the port of destination is included, but warehousing and road transport are not.

As we don’t know for how long you will actually store the coffee in the warehouse, we assume an average warehousing period of 6 months. Even if the actual storage period deviates from this assumption, the overall estimate is only marginally affected, as not that many emissions accrue during warehouse storage.
