We’ve made a big change to how our pricing works, and made it even better for producers on Algrano.
Algrano is removing the Seller Fee, which is applied to each sale through the Algrano platform, and replacing it with a new Matchmaking fee, which expires after 3 years.
These changes reflect our commitment to facilitating long term partnerships between producers and roasters.
Let’s review what this actually means:
How much is the Matchmaking Fee?
The Matchmaking fee is a fixed amount of $0.44USD/kg or $0.22USD/kg.
If the Matchmaking fee exceeds 6% of the FOB value of the coffee, 6% will be used instead to protect lower priced coffees. This cap applies when the FOB price is less than $7.34/kg.
How is it charged?
The Matchmaking fee is DEDUCTED from the FOB price, if it applies.
When does the Matchmaking Fee apply?
The Matchmaking fee applies if we help you find a new customer, either through our sales team or our Marketplace. It’s a commission for helping you grow your customer base.
The Matchmaking fee applies when selling to that roaster for 3 years.
After that, it’s free to sell to that roaster through Algrano.
Which roasters does it apply to?
There are two situations when the Matchmaking fee is not applied to a sale to a roaster.
- When you bring your own customer: if you find a roaster to sell to without our help, its free to sell to them through Algrano.
- If the 3 year Matchmaking term has expired, it’s free to sell to that roaster through Algrano. Yes, past purchases count - some of your existing relationships could already be free.
