Understanding Algrano Consolidations at Origin

Learn how export consolidation works with Algrano, including exporter responsibilities and seller responsabilities.

How the Export Process Works

When you make a sale through Algrano, the coffee is exported through one of our export partners in origin. The exporter manages the export process, documentation, logistics coordination, and shipment preparation before the coffee is shipped internationally.

As a seller, your responsibility is to deliver the coffee to the agreed collection point and prepare the coffee according to the agreed quality and shipment requirements.

What Is the Collection Point?

The collection point is the location where the exporter receives your coffee before export. This may be a warehouse, dry mill, exporter facility, or another agreed logistics point depending on the origin and exporter.

The coffee must be delivered to the collection point according to the timelines and conditions agreed for the shipment.

Estimated Export Costs

The export costs shown on Algrano are estimates provided by the exporter to help sellers understand the expected costs associated with exporting the coffee.

These estimates are not binding to Algrano, and we strongly recommend contacting the exporter directly to confirm current prices, included services, and any additional costs before proceeding.

The estimated export cost include:

  • Storage while preparing the export
  • Export handling (Documentation, Transport to port & Standard export coordination services)

The estimated export cost do not include:

  • Bags and bag marks

In Colombia, these may sometimes be included, so please confirm this directly with the exporter.

  • Milling
  • Quality control
  • PSS shipping
  • Transport from your location to the collection point
  • Any additional services outside the standard export process

Exporters may also offer additional services depending on the origin and shipment requirements. If you require extra services, please contact the exporter directly to discuss available options and pricing.

Payment Terms

Payments are typically CAD (Cash Against Documents) to the exporter.

This means:

  1. You deliver the coffee to the collection point.
  2. The exporter ships the coffee and manages the export documentation.
  3. Algrano pays the exporter according to the agreed payment terms.
  4. Once payment is received, the exporter pays the seller in local currency.

Payment is therefore not made against delivery of the coffee to the collection point, as the coffee must first be exported and the export documents processed.

Prepayments (Grower Capital)

If you require prepayment after securing a sale, you may be eligible to apply for Grower Capital financing.

Grower Capital operates under specific eligibility criteria and conditions.

For more information, please refer to the Grower Capital Help Center article.

Certifications

If the exporter does not currently offer the certification you require, please contact the Sourcing team before making an offer for certified coffee.

Certification requirements can affect exporter eligibility, documentation, traceability, and export preparation. Our team can help you understand the available options before proceeding.
